In order to improve the strength of Al alloys at elevated temperature, we systematically investigate the new mechanism, method and technique related to the fabrication and application of new crystal seed alloy, on the basis of atom cluster evolution and structural modulation in Al melts. A series of new crystal seed materials have been developed, including Al-P, Si-P, Al-B-C-N and Al-Ti-C-B-N alloys, which have been utilized in high-performance engine manufacture. We have also developed heat-resistant, high-strength Al alloys.
Introduction to the speaker:
Prof. Xiangfa Liu is a professor in Key Laboratory for Liquid-Solid Structural Evolution and Processing of Materials, Ministry of Education, Shandong University, and was awarded the Distinguished Young Scholars Project from National Natural Science Foundation of China. His research focuses on structural evolution of alloy melts, nanostructured crystal seed materials and techniques, heat-resistant and high-strength Al alloys, and high-performance Al alloy-based composites.
