Chongqing University Library is one of the largest libraries in western China. Founded in 1930, it has a long history, rich collections, and emphasizes both management and service. The library takes "documentary support, cultural education" as the purpose of running the library, according to the construction idea of coordinated development of "resources, management and service", adheres to the service concept of "readers first", follows the motto of "wisdom and service", and strives to make Chongqing University Library the best library in the world. The library of Chongqing University has three branches according to the layout of campuses and disciplines, including the Science and Technology Library (including the Sound Library) on Campus A, the Architecture Library on Campus B, the Huxi Library on Huxi Campus (including four house libraries, the Science Branch and the Founder's Library), and the Burson-Marsteller Branch and the Journalism Branch in cooperation with the faculties. The total area of the premises reaches 59,362 square meters, with 5481 reading seats. There are 104 professional librarians in the library, with 10 departments, including General Office, Discipline Service Office, Resource Construction Department, Network Service Department, Intelligence Service Department, Special Collections Department, Culture and Education Center, Polytechnic Library, Architecture Library, and Huxi Library, to provide all-around literature services for the readers. The library collection is rich in resources, the physical collection reaches 5,120,700 volumes, and the digital collection 13,325,600 volumes/items. The library has a wired network with 10,000-megabit backbone and 1,000-megabit to desktop, and the whole library is covered by wireless network. The library has 30 physical servers and 406TB of storage space, providing strong documentary resources for the construction of "double first-class", teaching and research, and the training of top innovative talents.
Chongqing University Library is committed to promoting the development of school and social innovation to provide information research and analysis services, with the Ministry of Education's first batch of scientific and technological research station, in 2018 was approved as the first batch of universities and colleges of the National Intellectual Property Information Service Center in 2020 was approved by the World Intellectual Property Organization set up in China's Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC). The library actively participates in the construction of national, provincial and municipal literature resource guarantee system, and is the provincial service center of CALIS of the Ministry of Education's Literature Guarantee System, the co-built unit of the resource platform of Chongqing Municipal University Union, and the unit of Chongqing Municipal Universities and Colleges Graphic Work Committee's permanent secretariat.
