Teachers andStudents from School of Civil EngineeringParticipated in the 9th ICASS

The 9th International Conference on Advances in Steel Structures (ICASS), co-sponsored by the Hong Kong Institute of Steel Structures (HKISC) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), was held in December 5-7, 2018 in Hong Kong, China. Associate Prof. Dan Gan, Ziqi He and Pengcheng Li and Ph.D. student Jie Yu from School of Civil Engineering (SCE), Chongqing University (CQU) attended the conference.

The topics of the conference included structural stability, cold-formed steel, semi-rigid joints, steel structure fire protection, steel structure anti-corrosion, steel structure seismic, high-strength steel, 3D printing, fabricated steel structure, combined structure, flexible protective structure, etc.

Associate Prof. Dan Gan delivered a presentation titled "Cyclic Tests Of Concrete-Filled U-Shaped Steel Beam To Concrete-Filled Square Steel Tube Column Joints"; Associate Prof. Ziqi He delivered a presentation titled "Distortional- Global Interaction Behavior And Dsm Design Of Cold-Formed Steel Columns With Slotted Holes"; Associate Prof. Pengcheng Li delivered a presentation titled "Buckling Behavior And Optimization Analysis Of Prestressed Stayed Steel Columns"; and Ph.D. Jie Yu delivered a presentation titled “Behavior Of Precast Prestressed Steel-Concrete Composite Bridges”.

During the conference, the participants from Chongqing University visited the Hong Kong Branch of the National Steel Structure Engineering Research Center, at the invitation of Prof. Kwoj-Fai Chung of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

It is reported that the 10th ICASS will be held in Chengdu in October 2020. The conference will be jointly organized by the Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) with the National Steel Structure Engineering Technology Research Center and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
