The School of Energy and Power Engineering holds the opening ceremony for the 2020 undergraduates

The registration of freshmen from the School of Energy and Power Engineering was conducted in an orderly manner from September 7th to 9th. This is a special opening report. Due to the epidemic, parents cannot enter the campus. Freshmen who have just finished their high school career bid farewell to their parents and hometown, then came to the Huxi campus of Chongqing University alone. However, the freshmen still completed the registration independently with the help of senior students. Some freshmen, who had already completed the registration, also initiativly helped to welcome the freshmen. A total of 229 freshmen successfully completed the registration procedures.

At 10:00 on September 9th, the opening ceremony of the 2020 undergraduates was successfully held in room D1131, Huxi campus, with the theme of "active students, independent development". Prof. Pan Liangming, secretary of the Party Committee, Prof. Liao Qiang, Dean, Mr. Deng Fuping, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Prof. Zheng Chaolei, Dr. Li Zhenzhong, Dr. Yu Jiajia, Dr. Kang Yinhu, Dr. Li Qibin, teachers from the office of education and academic affairs, and all 2020 freshmen attended the ceremony, which was hosted over by Deng Fuping.

Prof. Liao Qiang, the dean of the college, introduced Chongqing University and the School of Energy and Power Engineering about their history, faculty, scientific research, the college's undergraduate major setting, future employment prospects and discipline development direction. He proposed to the freshmen that the college's goal of cultivating applied talents with good characteristics, high quality, broad knowledge and solid foundation, and encouraged freshmen to keep making progress during the next four years of university.

Prof. Zheng Chaolei, the teacher representative of the college, put forward some suggestions for college life to the freshmen. She hoped that the freshmen can successfully complete the transition from high school students to college students, plan their studies and life reasonably, and arrange their own time.

Student Tang Weifeng from the 2017 grade of the college gave a speech as the representative of senior students. He recounted his experience of participating in various competitions in the university, telling the younger students to find their goals in the university and to work hard for them in order to live up to their youth.

The 2020 freshman representative Fan Wuhao spoke at the ceremony. He started from the feelings of this year’s epidemic in his hometown of Ezhou, Hubei. After experiencing difficulties, he must cherish the present and fight for the future. He talked about establishing lofty ideals in the university and moving forward on the ground.

Prof. Pan Liangming, secretary of the Party Committee of the College, delivered a speech. He first expressed his congratulations to the students in his speech, and then put forward his expectations for the students to value their studies and actively participate in various activities to exercise themselves in the future study and life. Profe. Pan Liangming said that we must cultivate active students with international vision, lofty ideals, not afraid of hardship, and setbacks, and look forward to the growth and success of freshmen.

The conference proceeded to the question and interactive session, freshmen actively spoke, and teachers patiently answered.

Deng Fuping, deputy secretary of the party committee of the college, concluded his speech, hoping that the students would not forget their original intentions, stay motivated, live up to the high expectations placed on them by themselves, their families and the society, and set sail in the days to come.
